Juror Indicted for Lying

A New Jersey juror was removed during deliberations in a murder trial for lying during jury selection. The juror is now facing perjury charges in Essex County. On February 26, 2015, Wacoa Stanford of Newark was indicted on three counts of false swearing. She is accused of knowingly concealing that she had a prior record and DYFS investigation. During deliberations, Stanford specifically brought up her DYFS case to other jurors and one of the jurors told the judge they thought it was affecting Stanford’s ability to be fair.

It just goes to show that the age old wisdom of tell the truth can always be the best way to go.
